This easy vegetarian lentil recipe uses split moong beans with husk,
providing extra fiber along with protein.
Moong Dal not only cooks quickly but is also easy to digest. If you
don't know what to make with radish, try this healthy dal recipe.
Wash the moong dal and cook in the pressure
cooker
with 2 cups of water for 2 whistles or 6-7 minutes.
Heat 1 cup water in a saucepan. Add the radish pieces
along with salt and a little turmeric powder. Cook on medium heat until
semi-cooked. Add the tamarind paste and cook until tender but not
mushy. Remove from heat.
Add the cooked moong dal along with salt as needed.
Heat the ghee or oil for seasoning. Add the cumin
seeds and fry until almost golden. Add the ginger, turmeric, chilli
powder, and coriander powder, and fry for a couple of seconds.
Pour the seasoning over the dal. Cover and cook the
radish moong dal on low heat until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat
and garnish with cilantro.
Serve the radish moong dal with rice and fried or
roasted pappadums or yogurt chillies (dahi mirchi).
